Wayne Rooney Wants Revenge When Arsenal Visit Manchester United
In 2002, Arsenal won the Premier League title at Old Trafford giving their fans endless joy for banter and chants whenever the Gunners face their Manchester United counterparts.
Such songs give great displeasure to English powerhouse forward Wayne Rooney, who is hoping to seek vengeance this Saturday lunch-time, when United take on the north Londoners at home. A draw would be enough to secure an 18th title for the Mancunian side.
"One point will win the title for us," Rooney is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. "Hopefully that can come on Saturday. It would be brilliant to do it in front of our own fans and brilliant to win it against Arsenal, who are a great footballing team.
"When they come to Old Trafford you always hear them singing about winning the title at Old Trafford, so it would be nice to win against them. That would be special."
He continued, "We want to do it in front of our own fans, I think the manager's said we've only done that once in 17 years.
"To win it three years on the run would also be amazing." Goal.com
Real Madrid Fail In Latest Pepe Appeal
The appeal board of the Spanish Football Federation have rejected an appeal by Real Madrid to reduce the ten-game sanction for Pepe.
The Portuguese defender was given the ban after his violent conduct in a game against Getafe at the Bernabeu last month.
After fouling Javier Casquero to concede a penalty he then proceeded to kick him and punch another player, before abusing the officials as he was being sent off.
It was reported that he was given two bans, each of four games, as well as a two-match suspension on top, for two acts of aggression.
This is the point that Madrid tried to argue in the latest appeal, as they claim that he committed one continuous act, rather than two distinct ones.
The appeal board has maintained though that he will have a four-game ban for the kicks on Javier Casquero, four for punching Juan Albin, one for insults towards officials, and another for the red card itself.
That means that he will still miss the remainder of this Primera Division season, and will also miss the first four matches of the next campaign.
The only appeal mechanism left for Madrid now is the Spanish Committee for Discipline in Sport, but the club are yet to decide whether they will take that option. Goal.com
