Samuel Eto'o: Barcelona Still Set For Primera Division Crown

The Cameroon international is confident that his side can overcome Sunday's setback against Villarreal to clinch the title...

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o is adamant that Villarreal's last-gasp equaliser that denied the Camp Nou side the Primera Division championship on Sunday evening has merely stalled the title celebrations, and the Blaugrana can grab the win they need this weekend at Real Mallorca.

The Blaugrana let a 3-1 lead slip in the closing 15 minutes after Eric Abidal was sent off for the second time in a week, allowing Mati Fernandez and Joseba Llorente to level the tie and put the champagne on ice.

However Eto'o, who remains the frontunner in the race for the Pichichi title, is certain that Barcelona will clinch the title by collecting three points against the Islanders on matchday 36.

Sportinglife.com reports that the 28-year old said, "Winning the league is only a question of time. We could be champions before we even play again."

In addition, former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique told the club's official website that they would have liked to have clinched the title against Los Submarinos Amarillos, but now their focus is on defeating Athletic Bilbao in the Copa Del Rey final on Wednesday evening at the Mestalla.

He commented, "It's clear that a win on Wednesday gives us our first title of the season, and for that there is a lot of motivation and a lot of desire."

Barcelona will be pronounced Spanish champions if Real Madrid fail to win at Villarreal, the day before the Catalan side take on Mallorca at the ONO Estadi. Goal.com
