Chelsea Need Guus Hiddink Not Jose Mourinho - John Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed that the Blues are not interested in seeing Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge and would rather Guus Hiddink stayed on instead.

The Dutchman has proved an instant hit in west London after replacing Luiz Felipe Scolari at the Chelsea helm.

Hiddink has improved the Blues’ form, keeping them in touch at the top of the Premier League whilst also guiding them to a superb 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League.

His role as manager of the Russian national team, however, means his future at the club is far from clear, which has led to speculation that former boss Mourinho may return.

Yet speaking to The Observer, Terry hailed Hiddink’s influence and hinted that the 62-year-old may be persuaded to stay, particularly if the club ended the season with some silverware.

“He has a good relationship with Roman Abramovich,” said the defender.

“Things have gone very well and I'm sure there will be talks ongoing. If we keep progressing there's only going to be one option. He's done brilliantly. He's on at us every day in training, and he doesn't let anyone get away with anything.”

When asked whether Mourinho was wanted back at Stamford Bridge, Terry’s reply was as revealing as it was emphatic.

“Listen, Jose was a great manager and had some great times here. But it's someone else's turn now to kick on,” he explained.

“Mourinho is a world class manager, a lot of the players are still in contact with him. But we need stability at the club now.

“The manager's done brilliantly and got us playing freely. But it's down to the board to make those decisions.” Goal
