Man United Join Chelsea, Spurs & Everton In Hunt For Samba Star

European Champions Manchester United are the latest Premier League club to be linked with CSKA Moscow striker Vagner Love, according to Russian television.

24-year-old Love has previously been linked with Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, with all three Premiership clubs understood to have made offers for the Brazilian International.

Love has revealed the interest from the Toffees, Spurs and the Blues, but said that there had been no concrete offers. However, the Brazilian striker did insist that he knew nothing about the claims on Russian TV, that the Red Devils are also in the hunt to sign him in the summer.

“Until now, I haven’t received anything concrete. I know about the interest from Everton, Tottenham and Chelsea but this Manchester [United interest] is new. I can guarantee that I don’t know anything. I just saw the information on Russian TV,” Love said.

Love, who is under contact until December 20011, is widely expected to leave the Luzhniki Stadium in the summer, with the Premiership the likely destination. The striker, who joined from Palmeiras in 2004, has scored 90 goals in 173 appearances for the Russian outfit and is valued in the region of £20million. Premiership Latest

LIVERPOOL CHASE RECORD SHIRT DEAL

LIVERPOOL are pursuing a record sponsorship deal with Carlsberg which could net them £60million.

The Merseysiders hope to conclude negotiations as early as this summer on an agreement which would eclipse those of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Liverpool's current three-year contract with the Danish brewers is worth around £10m a year - including Champions League bonuses - and ends after the 2009-10 season.

But co-owners Tom Hicks (below) and George Gillett want to shatter previous records with a new four-year deal.

They are out to top the four-year £56m arrangement United signed with AIG in 2006 and Chelsea's five-year £50m contract with Samsung, which runs to 2010.

Previous deals with Carlsberg, Liverpool sponsors since 1992, were thought to be worth a lot less than those of rival clubs.

A swift deal would give boss Rafa Benitez a transfer kitty and could help protect Reds' value if either owner is forced to sell his share. newsoftheworld.co.uk
